Willow Glen Covered Bridge; 8-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 3-1/2" 21.2 x 8.7 x 8.7cm at Roof HO scale   It was an age of elegant style. Clothes, carriages , buildings -- especially buildings -- had a distinctive style and lavish ornaments. Many still survive, lovingly restored to their former glory.   Capture the elegance of those long-ago days with the Gold Ribbon Series™ buildings from Walthers. This collection of HO Scale kits is designed for simple snap-together assembly with a minimum of gluing. The finished models are perfect for layouts, dioramas or Christmas Villages.   Major parts snap together and you just glue on smaller details for the finishing touch. Main walls and trim are molded as one assembly, but in two different colors, so you can use your new model right of the box. Windows feature true-to-scale mullions and frames molded in color over clear glazing for more realism. Decals and interior detail sheets are included as appropriate, along with complete instructions. Packed with details, you'll be proud to display the finished buildings in any setting.   We always knew we were home when we crossed the old bridge at Willow Glen. In summer, we'd play inside its dusty shadows, or carve our initials in some hidden spot so no would know we had done it! If Dad was working the south 40, he'd drive our Belgian horses, Boss and Beauty, over to the shady side and let them drink. The clatter of their hooves and the creak of wagon wheels would thunder around us, making it sound like they were moving much faster than they really ever did.   Time was, you could travel from Maine to Mexico and cross many a covered bridge just like this. Most were simple designs, and before chemical preservatives, the roof and sides protected the all-important beams from rot. Now some folks insist they were designed and painted to look like barns on purpose. The idea was that a horse or cow would walk right in to one and not be scared by the rushing water below.   Give any rural road a unique charm when you add this model to your HO Scale layout. Typical of covered bridges from coast-to-coast, its detailed beams and boards look like real wood. Of course, they're molded as one assembly in two different colors and the major parts just snap together. Realistic stone abutments are provided so it's easy to add to a new section of your layout, or blend with existing scenery.
